Chemically a polyamide-imide, Torlon PAI is a reaction product of trimellitic anhydride and aromatic diamines. Torlon PAI demonstrates exceptional thermal stability due to the combination of aromatic groups and amide linkages alternating with imide linkage. This property also contributes to Torlon‘s flexibility and toughness generating exceptional toughness. We have Torlon available in sheet, rod, film, and tube for all applications.
Characteristics
Electrical Grade: Highest elongation and excellent compressive strength. Exceptional insulation and impact strength.
Bearing Grade: Low coefficient of friction, little or no slip-stick, and a very low expansion rate. Flexural modulus of 1,000,000 psi.
30% Glass-Reinforced: Compression molded, ideal for higher load structural or electronic applications. Ideal for larger shapes or dimensional control.
