Acrylic is one of the most economical and easily fabricated plastics for aesthetic applications. Acrylic is available in a variety of translucent and opaque colors. The light weight (less than 50% as heavy as glass) and high impact resistance (6-17 times the impact resistance of glass) make it the material of choice for displays, glazing and other popular glass applications. Acrylic is also noted for its ease of fabrication. Acrylic can be machined, routed, drilled and cut as easily as wood. When heated, acrylic can be bent into almost any shape. Upon cooling the material retains the shape with surprising stability.
