Polystyrene (PS) is designed for applications requiring electrical and mechanical properties, as well as processability. Polystyrenes have an excellent balance of physical properties and are resistant to a large quantay of chemicals including: alkalies, salts, lower alcohols, and weak acids. Polstyrenes are FDA compliant and generally transparent, however PS can come in a vast array of colors. Though generally processed via injection molding, polystyrene can be blow and vacuum molded, thermoformed, extruded or compression molded, and machined.
